About Us
Hello!
Lady M Occasion Wear is based in the beautiful village of Newick in the East Sussex countryside and was established by Susan Marshall MBE in 2023. It has already secured two Women’s Clothing Brand of the year awards and quickly became established as the largest stockist of Mother of the Bride and Groom clothing in Sussex and built a reputation for providing excellent customer service.
Sue worked for forty years in the NHS as a Chief Nurse and gained an MBE for her dedication to nursing and nurse leadership.
As a dedicated follower of fashion, beautiful fabrics, garment detailing and design, Sue then pursued her other passion and established the Occasion Wear shop, where she could offer friendly, unrivalled customer experience and specialised advice to help ladies feel more confident and fabulous when attending their special event.
Contact us to book an appointment and please feel free to get in touch if you would like some advice, we are always here to help.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is your returns policy?
Please see the Delivery and Returns Policy for online purchases.
This policy does not apply to outfits purchased in the boutique. For those outfits, we do not offer refunds or exchanges unless goods do not comply with the Consumer Rights Act.
This does not affect your statutory rights. We check that our outfits are perfect following delivery and again before leaving the store
Are your items in stock or do I need to order them?
All of our outfits in the shop are stock, which means you can take them away with you on the day and do not need to order.
What size outfits do you stock?
The stock available would suit petite, tall, regular and plus sizes – see the designer range. We generally stock outfits from size 8 – 24 but bear in mind designer sizes can differ and you may have to go up or down a size or two.
Should I have a colour in mind before I start looking?
A style that makes you look and feel fabulous is more important than deciding on a particular colour before your special day / event, so keep an open mind.
Who should I bring with me?
It is always good to have a second opinion, so we recommend you bring along one trusted friend, your partner or a family member, as too many opinions can make it difficult to choose and a less intimate experience. Sometimes less is more.
Should I wear a hat or fascinator?
Wearing a hat or fascinator can really enhance an outfit, so we always encourage you to try one on with your outfit. It also sets you aside from wedding guests.
Will you hold an item if I like it but would like a second opinion or the Brides approval?
We generally would set aside a garment for 24 hours only. If this is during a busy period we may ask for a non refundable deposit, so would recommend that you bring a trusted friend or the “bride to be” with you.
Alternatively you can book a revisit appointment. We would stress however, that we only stock a few of each design to ensure exclusivity, so ensure you book your revisit quickly to save disappointment.
Do you offer a payment plan?
Should my outfit compliment the wedding party?
What are your opening times?
We are open by appointment and availability 5 days a week
Christmas and New Year Hours
Closed 24th Dec – 3rd January
Should I wear headwear even if the wedding is not in a church?
Absolutely. It is your one chance to feel and look fabulous and headwear can really enhance or pull an outfit together.
Is Lady M’s an accessible premises?
Do you offer specialist advice to individuals who may have had surgery e.g. Mastectomy ?
Absolutely. At lady M Occasion Wear we offer specialist fitting expertise and with lady M’s medical background, we can offer an additional personalised service to accommodate your specific needs.
